Gaucholin® is a South German pure aniline, which is a “nonpareil” variety (meaning “no equal”). This is the most expensive pure aniline due to its consistently high quality. This article was invented to satisfy the pickiest of leather customers. Dyed for color using a true “A” selection of raw material Gaucholin® is some of the prettiest leather you will ever see. Since anilines are notorious for being hard to cut Gaucholin® will change the way you look at anilines forever. The hides are dyed using an environmentally friendly water-based process and is known for its extremely soft hand. Expect color variation from hide to hide and within each hide. Dye lot variation is also a feature of working with pure aniline leathers and must be understood. After dyeing a slight sauvage effect is added to give the leather a mottled effect and adds depth to the leather. Even though this is a premium selection of raw material you will see natural characteristics through out the leather. These features should be expected and appreciated such as healed scars, scratches, neck and belly wrinkles. These are hallmarks of an aniline and register this leather a pure aniline. Since Gaucholin® is an aniline the leather will fade with prolonged exposure to light and will develop a patina over time and with use.
Gaucholin® is a registered name by theleathercollection.
