Santiago is true “pull-up” leather. Santiago is produced to be a soft supply drippy leather. Santiago hides are selected from United States raw material for their tight grain and texture. The hides are dyed for color using green dyeing process and then through an oil stuffing process that penetrates the leather throughout. This saturation of oil is what give the leather the great waxy hand and allows it to have a rich color burst. The term “pull-up” means that when the leather is stretched it will lighten in these stress areas. Then when the leather is released the color will migrate back. The effect is very forgiving and adds character to any application. Color variations should be expected from hide to hide and within dye lots. Natural characteristics such as healed scars, scratches, neck and belly wrinkles will be apparent though out the hides. Prolonged exposure to sunlight will cause Santiago to fade.
